Meditation on Loving kindness -Metta Bhavna

The meditation who wants to practice metta meditation needs to know the types of person to whom he or she should and should not meditate metta on.One type of person whom one should not meditate metta upon is a person of the opposite sex during metta meditation on specific person. however the opposite sex can be included during unspecified metta meditation such as May all living beings.., May all men..May all women..for example.a female mediator should not meditate metta on a specific male person.Similarly a male meditator should not meditate metta on a specific female.If one does so, lust (Raga) can aise and the meditation may be destroyed.

A dead person should no be meditated upon by metta as Jhana cannot be attained .It is always phohibited to meditate metta on the opposite sex and a dead pesson individually,specificlly.The persons who are not to be meditated upon initially at the begainning are ,

1.the person who is the most loved one because grief may arise

2.A natural or indifferent person because there may be a little difficulty at the beginning

3.A hated person because it is very difficult for mrtta to arise in the beginning.

therefore the first person to meditate metta upon should be a respectable person of the same sex.

An individual who is familiar with loving kindness practices it frequently ,

becomes good at it until it becomes his nature,such an individual so developed in loving kindness will gain eleven benefits

He sleeps well

He wakes up feeling good

He does not have bad dreams

He is well-liked by fellow men

He is well-liked by people everywhere

He i protected by deities

He will not be harmed by fire,poisons or weapons

He facial complexion is healthy

He will not cause death through bewilderment

He may not achieve anything superb but the pure abodes will still be within his reach

This is a lovely meditation .one i recommend to a lot of people new to meditation who wish to try a guided meditation. Very helpfully with adversarial situations ,when angry and frustration can be mellowed by regular Metta meditation.

Close your eyes, relax your muscles, and take a few deep breaths. Repeat four positive, reassuring phrases to yourself.

 May I be free from anger;

may I be free from ill will;

may I be free from mental & physical suffering;

may I look after myself and live happily.

And like myself, may my teacher, preceptor, mother, father,

Those who are benefactors, those who are neutral, (and) those who are enemies,

Be free from hatred, free from oppression, free from trouble,

May they take care of themselves and be happy, may they be free from suffering,

Being ones who own their actions, may they not lose whatever prosperity they have gained.

In this living place, in this alms village, in this town,

May the leaders of the people, the gods within these boundaries, (and) all beings

Be free from hatred, free from oppression, free from trouble,

May they take care of themselves and be happy, may they be free from suffering,

Being ones who own their actions, may they not lose whatever prosperity they have gained.

May all creatures, all breathing creatures, all beings,

All persons, all individuals,

May all women, all men,

All those who are Noble, all those who are not (yet) Noble,

All gods, all human beings, all who have fallen (into the lower worlds),

Be free from hatred, free from oppression, free from trouble,

May they take care of themselves and be happy, may they be free from suffering,

Being ones who own their actions, may they not lose whatever prosperity they have gained.
